How to Convert Excel to PDF on a Mac (XLSX, XLS and CSV)
A PDF opens the same way for everyone. No broken formulas, no missing fonts, and nobody changing a number by accident. That is why it is the safest way to share a report, a budget or an invoice that started life as a spreadsheet.
Option 1: Export from Excel
If you have Excel on your Mac, the built-in route works well. Choose File, then Save As, and pick PDF as the file format. You can also use File, then Print, and choose Save as PDF from the PDF menu. This uses the page setup in your workbook, so it is worth checking that first.

Option 2: Convert without Excel
If you are on a Mac without Excel, or you only have a file someone sent you, use our Excel to PDF converter:
Upload your .xlsx, .xls or .csv file. The limit is 10 MB.
Wait a few seconds while it converts.
Sign in with Google and download your PDF.
You can upload and watch the conversion before you sign in. Signing in is only needed to download.
Make the PDF look right
A spreadsheet is not a page, so a few settings decide how it prints:
Set the print area so only the cells you want are included.
Switch wide sheets to landscape orientation.
On the Page Layout tab, set the width to 1 page so columns are not split across pages.
Make column widths wide enough that numbers do not turn into hash signs.
The page setup saved in your workbook usually carries over. Very wide sheets may still be split across several pages, so check your settings in Excel if you need one page wide.
A note on CSV files
A CSV file is plain text with no fonts, colours or column widths, so its PDF will look plain too. If you want a nicer result, open the CSV in Excel, format it, save it as .xlsx and convert that instead.
Speed up the prep work
Getting a sheet ready to print is mostly formatting. The Windows shortcuts for it are quick: Alt H O I to auto-fit column width, Alt H W to wrap text, Alt H M C to merge and center. On a Mac they become ⌥ H O I, ⌥ H W and ⌥ H M C with the Mac Excel Shortcuts app. Keep our printable cheat sheet next to your keyboard until they are second nature.
Your file stays private
Your spreadsheet is converted in a temporary folder that is removed afterwards, and the PDF is deleted after you download it. We do not store or read your files.
